Learning Korean Expression 꼭 붙어야지

A new lesson is updated today on KBS Drama Lines – Japanese section (http://world.kbs.co.kr/japanese/program/program_koreadrama_detail.htm?No=2194).

The Korean expression explained is: 꼭 붙어야지 (you must past the test, or I must past the test).
The verb 붙다 usually means ‘to stick’, but it can also mean ‘to pass the test/exam’.

The website doesn’t give a script of the sample dialog of the drama Big, so I felt challenged to test my listening skill. Haha. It’s very short anyway. Here’s the skit on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Fr3Mdcenw

Daran’s father:
마음 같아서는
시험에 합격해서
정교사 발령받고
식을 올렸으면 좋겠구만.
If only it was up to me, I’d like you to pass the test, get appointed as  a permanent teacher, and have the wedding ceremony after that.

꼭 붙는다는 보장은 없죠.
There’s no guarantee that I will pass.

Daran’s father :
꼭 붙어야지!
Of course you must pass the test!

People even use the expression 꼭 붙어야지 as a hashtag on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/%EA%BC%AD%EB%B6%99%EC%96%B4%EC%95%BC%EC%A7%80/)

I think the English section of KBS World will give full transcript and  better translation than me when they update the site for the same lesson later, I don’t know when. (http://world.kbs.co.kr/english/program/program_koreadrama.htm) ###
